Launch of the third AHTS vessel in a long series ordered by Tidewater

Gdansk based Northern Shipyard SA. member of REMONTOWA Group, celebrated launching of another multipurpose AHTS vessel for Tidewater Marine Inc. on April 5, 2007.
The ship, with yard designation B 844/3, to be named Thompson Tide is the third unit in a series of 14 ships being built to order placed at Northern Shipyard by Gdanska Stocznia "Remontowa" SA for worldwide offshore support services leader and one of the world's largest OSV fleet owner - Tidewater, based in New Orleans, USA and is scheduled for delivery in July, this year.

The recently launched ship features 70 m LOA, 15,50 m beam, 6,60 m depth and main propulsion power of 5000 BHP enabling to achieve service speed of 13 knots and maximum speed of 15 kn. Dynamic positioning system to be installed on the ship will fulfill the DP2 standard.
The major anchor handling and towage functions of the ship are facilitated by a 300 T low-pressure hydraulic system driven winch with two drums with capacity for 1500 m of wire rope of 72 mm diameter. Open deck area offered by the B 844 type vessel is 400 sq m with deck load of 1000 t.
The ship will also feature 55 tanks for drilling mud, water, fuel and dry bulk material. The ship's fire fighting system will have a capacity of 1200 cu m / h of water.
