Two fjord ferries for Norwegian Owners launched

Two small ferries being built for Norwegian Customer have been recently launched at Stocznia Północna S.A. (Northern Shipyard) - REMONTOWA Shipbuilding.

First, the launching of a double-ended car passenger ferry (newbuilding no. B 611) took place on April 8th, 2011. The ship, launched from sideways launchways, is built for one of the biggest Norwegian Owners - Torghatten Nord AS.
Design concept and initial phase of project is a result of cooperation between Norwegian design office NSK (Nordnorsk Skipskonsult AS) and Polish design office REMONTOWA Marine Design & Consulting Ltd. Final version of design project and workshop documentation is elaborated by REMONTOWA Marine Design & Consulting Sp. z o.o. Measuring 40,60 m in length, powered by 900 kW Main Engine vessel will reach the speed 12 knots. Ferry with 146 passengers and 21 cars on board will serve on the route in northern part of Norway, Tromso region (the picture below).

Then, on April 12, 2011, the launching of the double-ended car and passenger ferry was performed with use of a floating crane at Stocznia Północna (REMONTOWA Shipbuilding). This ship is also being built for Norwegian Owners - Torghatten Nord AS.
The ferry, 36 m long, designed to carry 16 EU-B size cars, will comply with the Norwegian Maritime Directorates (NMD) and Det Norske Veritas (DNV) rules and regulations. The ship is built according to design of Nordnorsk Skipskonsult AS, Norway in cooperation with REMONTOWA Marine Design & Consulting Sp. z o.o.
The ship will be delivered to the Owner in third quarter of this year.Ferry, like a previous one from this series will serve car - passenger transport in north of Norway.
