Remontowa Holding as an entire industrial group consisting of two shipyards and a dozen or so affiliated companies – equipment manufacturers and various services suppliers is known worldwide for its activity in the area of designing, building and turnkey delivery of completely equipped ships.

In the 1990's Gdansk Shiprepair Yard “Remontowa” began its own activity in building of new vessels.

The shipyard constructed i.a.:
  • General cargo ship Sheksna (GT 2052, DWT 2769, LOA 82 m, beam 12 m) for Russian owner (1994),
  • Trailing suction hopper Nautilus for Dutch owner (1996),
  • Two research/training vessels: Nawigator XXI (1997) and Horyzont II (1999) for Polish Maritime Universities in Szczecin and Gdynia

In the years 2000 – 2011, the company was still increasingly developing its knowledge and engineering expertise in the field of construction of more and more technically advanced ships of various kinds utilizing the potential of its own design office, a newbuilding yard as well as ship equipment companies operating within the Remontowa Group (presently – capital group Remontowa Holding S.A.).

At that time, the newbuilding contracts signed and carried out by Remontowa S.A. were subsequently subcontracted to its shipbuilding arm – the Northern Shipyard (currently – Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A.) and executed by the two entities in close association.

Through the years, Remontowa Holding has established fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation with the world’s premier league of ship owners and fleet operators. These include: Agip KCO, Anthony Veder, Basto Fosen, Caledonian McBrayne, CMAL, Edison Chouest Offshore, Fjord 1 MRF, GulfMark Offshore, Marnavi Offshore, Meriaura,Northern Lighthouse Board, Royal Arctic Line, Scottish Fishery Protection Agency, Tide Sjø, Tidewater Marine, Torghatten, Trinity House Lighthouse Services.

In this period several dozen ships were built such as i.a.: multipurpose and heavy cargo carriers, liquefied natural gas tankers, car-passenger ferries gas fuelled, double-ended ferries, platform supply vessels, anchor handling towing supply vessels, multi-function buoy tenders, rapid intervention vessels, ice breaking emergency evacuation vessels, fishery protection vessels, purse seiner/trawlers, vivier crabbers, shrimp trawlers, dredgers and floating docks, as well as partially equipped hulls for all types of vessels, barges, pontoons and other steel constructions.

Amongst godmothers of the ships built by Remontowa Holding there have been the most famous women in the world such as: Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II (on the picture above with Piotr Soyka - the president of Remontowa during a multi-function buoy tender christening ceremony in London), The Princess Royal Anne, Mary – Crown Princess of Denmark.

Since 2012, the entire shipbuilding activity including contracting and the production process  have been moved to Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A., whilst the Remontowa S.A. due to rapidly increasing number of technically sophisticated projects executed, especially from the offshore oil and gas market, has focused more on the repair and conversion core business.

However, having direct access to engineering knowledge acquired through experience of shipbuilding projects previously accomplished and to design expertise through the REMONTOWA Holding’s in – house ship design office we still do offer building of ships and floating units destined for some market sectors (e.g. dredgers). One of such recent projects was the construction of a dredger for Polish Owner in 2013.

Please, refer to some both historical and more recent projects descriptions in the menu on the left and in the download section, as well.

Detailed description of some ships mentioned above can be found on: in the “product” section.
