Transshipper name giving ceremony

On the 28th of June 2002 a name giving ceremony of transhipper took place at Remontowa S.A. The unit was named Isken by sponsor (godmother) - Mrs. Karin Clement of Germany.

The world’s largest floating coal transshipper, the Offshore Transshipment Terminal Isken, plus two 10,000 tons barges and two tugs in the Bay of Iskenderun in Turkey since 2002 are operated by Oldenforff Carriers. Around 20 capesize shipments with about 3.2 million tons are arriving annually from Columbia and South Africa.

Our semi-submersible Transshipper discharges each cape-size bulkcarrier in around 4 days. The coal is transferred into two 10,000 tdw Hopper Selfunloading Units (HSU’s), which are then shifted by pusher tugs over a distance of around 2 miles to a shoreside jetty. While one barge is loaded by the Transshipper, the other is busy with unloading at the shoreside pier. The barges enter the space between the hulls of semi-submersible. The 800,000 tons stockpile is adjacent to power station.
