Remontowa built sophisticated multi-function lighthouse service,
buoy tender and survey vessel awarded with "Significant Small Ship of 2006" title by RINA

"Significant Small Ships of 2006", to be published by The Royal Institution of Naval Architects in February 2007, will cover a wide variety of the most innovative, trend-setting, important and interesting commercial craft up to 100 m in length delivered in 2006 by ship and boatyards worldwide.
Newbuildings nominated for the "Significant Small Ships 2006" iclude, besides 26 other designs, also NLV Pharos, a multi function tender for the Northern Lighthouse Board built at Remontowa SA in Gdansk, Poland.
The 84 metre long Pharos has a helicopter-landing pad and is fitted with a range of high specification survey equipment that meets the highest and most modern technical standards. She has a 30-tonne capacity crane, azimuthing propellers, two 750 kW bow thrusters and DP2 dynamic positioning.
The launching of Pharos, destined for Northern Lighthouse Board, was performed by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal on February 3, 2006.
The contract, signed on March 11, 2004 in London, with the Remontowa S.A. calls for the construction and delivery of two 84 m Multi-Function Tenders (MFTs), one for Northern Lighthouse Board (Pharos) and one, currently under outfitting,  for Trinity House (Galatea), as well as one 35 m Rapid Intervention Vessel (RIV) for Trinity House (Alert), delivered in 2006.
The trio has been built to the high technical standards demanded by the General Lighthouse Authorities for the exacting operations they conduct around our coast.
The tendering process to select the shipyard to build the vessels followed the requirements of the EU Procurement Directives. Remontowa SA have won the contract in fierce competition with several premier European yards.
