Second jack-up platform at Remontowa

Gdansk Shiprepair Yard Remontowa SA has recently welcomed another mobile offshore unit - accommodation / service platform Safe Esbjerg and another prestigious Client. The platform, over 60 m high, with 104 m tall legs, was berthed at Remontowa's quay on February 22, 2010.
Safe Esbjerg is the 82 Marathon LeTourneau type jack-up (self-elevating) platform built in 1975 and converted in 2005 (from a drilling jack-up to an accommodation / service jack-up) with 6951 t displacement and main dimensions being: 61.5x51x 6.67 m. Platform's helideck may accommodate one Sikorsky S-61N type helicopter.
Safe Esbjerg is an offshore hotel unit installed usually in close proximity to drilling or production platforms and providing accommodation to regular or construction and maintenance crews of these platforms. Up to 139 persons may be accommodated onboard.
Safe Esbjerg has been operating for Maersk in the Danish sector of the North Sea since June 2005. The contract has been extended and runs now until June 2011, with an additional one-year option until June 2012.
Safe Esbjerg will be in the yard until early April for class renewal and some steel renewal work. This work will engage about 400 persons of Remontowa personnel.

This is the sixth mobile offshore unit (platform) to be serviced at Remontowa so far (there were semi-submersible drilling rigs and floatels among them so far) and the second jack-up type unit after self elevating drilling rig ENSCO 100, which left Remontowa last November after extensive maintenance works, repairs and minor upgrading / conversion.

The rigs are positioned alongside the host installation and are connected by means of a telescopic gangway so that personnel can walk to work.
The majority of the company’s services is linked to maintenance and modification of installations on fields already in production, while some activity is also related to commissioning and decommissioning.
