AHTS launched for Gulfmark Offshore

On 25 February 2010 Stocznia Północna SA (Northern Shipyard) launched another unit from long, successful series of multipurpose offshore tug, anchor handler and supply vessels. Versatile ship recently launched is already the 23rd AHTS unit to be built at Northern Shipyard for Gdansk Shiprepair Yard Remontowa SA (both in REMONTOWA Group).



The first two ships (newbuilding nos. B 244/1 and 2) were delivered to the world's largest offshore support vessels operator - New Orlean's based Tidewater Marine Inc. in 2005.
August 2005 saw the construction of further AHTS vessels commencing.
Major customers for this popular in-house Remontowa's design are US based Owners Tidewater Marine Inc., Edison Chouest Offshore, Gulfmark Offshore as well as Italian Marnavi Offshore SPA.
The unit launched on February 25 (nb no. B 844/21), named Sea Victor, is under construction for American operator Gulfmark Offshore of Houston.
The ship, 70.0 m in overall length, will be propelled by two Caterpillar main engines rated 3800 kW each, enabling for service speed of 15 knots and bollard pull of 120 T. The ship is designed for and will be equipped with dynamic positioning system of the DP-2 class. The low-pressure hydraulic towing and anchor handling winch, with two drums for 1500 m of 72 mm wire, will provide 300 T pull. Towing and anchor handling equipment is complemented by spare rope storage drum (1000 m / 64 mm diameter) and two tugger winches, as well as stern roller (4 m long, 2.5 m dia) of 400 T SWL.
Open deck with 400 sq. m area and 1000 t loading capacity facilitates vessel's offshore supply function. There are 55 liquid and dry cargo tanks under the deck, designed for carriage of water, fuels, mud and other drilling materials. As a fire-fighter, the ship is equipped with pumps and water monitors of 1200 cu. n / h capacity. The 70 m long, 15.5 m wide and 6.6 m deep ship is being build according to the design of NED naval architecture and marine engineering design consultancy, part of REMONTOWA Group to ABS class.
