Brittany Ferries at Remontowa for 7 years

The year 2004 saw the first ferries operated by French Owners - Brittany Ferries to visit Gdansk Shiprepair Yard "Remontowa" SA for repairs and maintenance. Today, the co-operation continues, apparently with satisfaction of both parties.
- As far as ferry repairs are concerned, our expectations tend to incline towards "better quality at a satisfactory price". We find the answer at "Remontowa", which is evidenced by bringing our subsequent ferries to this yard year by year, obviously after negotiations each time - said Ms. Martine Jourdren, president of Brittany Ferries.
- We are eager to co-operate with those shipyards, which understand our quality and price requirements and are able to live up to these expectations. Remontowa SA comes as a leader here, as far as fulfilling our requirements is concerned, including a wide range of repair works accomplished at shortest possible time - added Frederic Pouget, member of the Board.
Brittany Ferries (BF) operates eight passenger and car ferries on the routes linking the UK, France and Spain. The company is focused on high quality ferry cruises, which enable to start holidays already onboard ferries in BF livery - before the passenger reaches its planned vacation destination ashore. This service is reflected in high quality of accommodation and passenger public spaces on BF ships.
Almost all ships from Brittany Ferries fleet have already visited Gdansk - based yard, including the flagship (the largest unit) Pont Aven comfortably accommodating up to 2100 passengers. This year "Remontowa" has already serviced Normandie and Bretagne and most recently the yard has been occupied with fast conventional ferry Cap Finistere (203.90 m LOA, 25.10 m beam) (see the picture below).

The latter serves the Portsmouth (UK) - Bilbao (Spain) route from March till November.
The ship arrived at the yard on February 9 and is expected to leave Gdansk before end of March.
- Of all the French ferries serviced so far it is just Cap Finistere, on which the range of repair and upgrade works is the biggest with the most significant part of the project being the modification of the two passenger decks - no. 9 and 10 - pointed out Marcin Seroka, the project manager.
The mentioned decks are being rearranged by "Remontowa". On deck 9 aft, a new roofed promenade is being constructed and similar promenade along the deck 10. The two larger bow thrusters are to be replaced, while the ship is docked up. New fendering is installed along the ship sides. Two car decks will be newly painted. Quite a lot of work is done around the two shaft lines.
Shiprepair and maintenance works also include main engines and generating sets overhauls, overhauls of over 90 electric motors and of all life-saving appliances.
